Nature at Night: Ain Al Ghamour
Nature at Night in Ain Al Ghamour
I'm back again with another vlog and adventure with the @ews_wwf Leaders of Change Program. This time, we explored the mountains of Fujairah after dark in search of some nocturnal wildlife. The dry mountains of this region often give the impression that they are devoid of life, but that's far from reality. Snakes, scorpions, insects, and other creatures emerge from under every rock and crevice as the sun begins to set.
Wildlife on social media is often oversensationalized and is more about showcasing the most vibrant and exotic species for a few views/likes than using it as an opportunity to educate and provide deeper value. In this video, I speak about my experiences with wildlife photography and highlight the importance of representing the natural world authentically, while shifting the focus toward appreciating and supporting our local biodiversity.
I hope to continue this series, where I strike a balance between educating, making nature feel accessible, and presenting it authentically, while reminding people that experiencing wildlife is a privilege, not something we're entitled to.
Finally, in the spirit of appreciating the species in our neighbourhoods, share a species in the comments that you feel deserves more appreciation!
